Hey.
18/11/17: I went to Rome today, and so far, I reckon it’s one of the most gorgeous cities in the world. I also went to my host sister’s English lesson, which was so good because there was a teacher from NZ there, and it’s crazy how nice it is to meet someone that speaks your language primarily! I also met some people who are apparently in my class. Still super nervous for school but meeting them made it feel somewhat less daunting.
As I said before, I went to Rome yesterday afternoon/evening and it was absolutely amazing. I’ll put some photos in below, but I am in love with the colours and details of all the buildings. It’s so good how close we are to Rome because it’s probably my new favourite place. I want to go there every weekend!
Here are a couple of photos from Rome:
22/11/17: Ok so I didn’t go to school on Monday because there was a student protest, and no one was at school. So yesterday was my first day, and it was definitely interesting. Everyone was super nice and the whole day all the teachers just asked me questions and stuff. The only bad thing is that I have to go to school on Saturday. Today I made some more friends, which was really good. I wish I spoke Italian because I literally don’t understand anything. School is very different here than in Australia. We end at 1 on most days, we have to stand every time a teacher enters the room and most of the classes don’t properly start until half an hour in because the teachers are marking the role/late/distracted. I think that the people in my class want to take me to see the Colosseum so that’s a plus. Also, I am so excited because halfway through December I am going to Milan and Venice with all the exchange students so I can see all the other people that I came with from Australia!
26/11/17: I’ve been in Italy for 12 days now so almost 2 weeks which is pretty crazy. This week has been pretty boring, just school etc.. Last night we watched 3 Harry Potter movies, and today I don’t think I’m going to do anything. I haven’t been able to take any proper outfit photos, but I’ll try and take some for next week… we’ll see. There isn’t much to write about at the moment, but as soon as something exciting happens, I’ll let you know.
So that’s all for this post!
Ciao,
Sophia 🙂
